Adult hot Minimalist Monday: Sweater Declutter! - lookmybody - lookmybody

When I decluttered my dresser a few months ago, I went through my sweaters, and cut my collection in half.  I saved a few items, planning to wear them during the summer as pullovers and cover ups.

Well, summer's almost over, and I haven't even looked at the couple items I was hanging on to.  And with fall right around the corner, it's time for me to get rid of the old, and make room for my favourite cozy knits!

Hope you enjoy the video!

Adult hot Knowledge Is Dead Weight. - lookmybody - lookmybody

I have two degrees - a Bachelors and a Masters of Social Work.  I love academia - I enjoyed every minute of my education, even the ones that made me cry.  And I took great notes - pages and pages of handwritten notes, especially during my Bachelors degree.

I kept all of those notes in a drawer under my bed, until I decided to get rid of them this weekend.  And I was surprised at how hard it was for me to put my notes in the recycling bin.

My notes aren't just notes.  They are a physical representation of the $40 000 of tuition fees, and 5 years of my life.  When people ask me what I did after high school, this is what I have to show for it. A big pile of notes that sum up the knowledge I've gained in university.  And that pile was HUGE.  What you see pictured above is only half of the notes I recycled this weekend.

The thing is, these notes aren't all I have to show for it.  I have two diplomas, countless essays and papers (saved on my computer), a thesis, and my own personal knowledge, which cannot be quantified.  I don't need these notes to prove that the past 5 years of my life mean something.

So after giving myself a pep talk, I let the notes go.  I am keeping the knowledge, but letting go of the bulk.  I think that's the smart thing to do.

Cheers to letting go of the things that mean the most to us.

Adult hot Minimalism Motivation. - lookmybody - lookmybody

Royal Decameron
Montego Bay, Jamaica
Two weeks ago, I was sitting in that swing, staring at that beautiful Jamaican sunset, and wondering how my life could ever get any better.  Now, I'm rushing to write this post before heading to bed, so I can wake up and go to work in the morning.

I am fortunate enough to have a full time job, with a month's worth of vacation days.  The only thing stopping me from being able to afford to spend all 4 weeks in a place like this, is my budget.  I can't afford to enjoy views like this as often as I want to because I spend all my money on stuff.

So here it is.  My minimalism motivation.  To be able to go back to this view, and to see others just like it.  This is what is driving my "no buy month".  For the entire month of August, the only money going out of my bank account will be for food, gas, bills, and to pay off my credit card bill.  Thanks to my stockpiling habits, I have all of my other necessities ready to go.  I may allow myself a dinner here and there with friends, but that's it.

My goal is to own less stuff, so I can make more memories.

This is my minimalism motivation.
